With a mission
to preserve the culture, traditions, and history of Craco, the
southern Italian hill town located in the Province of Matera and
the region of Basilicata, The Craco
Society seeks to reach individuals who are descendants of the
townspeople by holding meetings and making periodic
communications about the town and the townspeople.
Membership is open to anyone interested in supporting the
objectives of The Craco Society. The Society is international;
members are located in Canada, Italy and the United States of
America. We are affiliated with the National Italian American
Foundation and
the U.S. Association of the Basilicata Regional Council.
During the past year the Society has been the beneficiary of great support by members and friends and now we are looking to you to join us
too. Please consider the value of preserving the history, culture, and traditions of Craco. Perhaps, more importantly reflect on the impact of exposing your family to the
unique heritage of the town and its people. With over
330 members we are robust and planning a return visit to Craco next Summer and a Reunion in New York. Think of
the experiences and discovery these events represent. Is there a better way for your family to understand where they came from and how they got here?
Membership benefits in The Craco Society include:
·
Subscription to communications issued by the Society
·
Support with research about Craco and family history
·
Contact and information sharing with other members
·
Access to historical records and genealogical information held by
