Virtual Tour
The Craco 3D Project
The Craco Society is proud to introduce our computer generated 3D rendering of Craco Vecchio, as it appeared before the frana of 1963 which forced the evacuation of the old town. With over 400 hours of labor invested, this work represents another Society project to help preserve the images of our ancestral hometown. First premiered at our Third Annual Reunion in Brooklyn on October 24, 2009, it has been seen in Craco, and has given its citizens a glimpse of the way their beautiful city looked nearly 50 years ago. It is available in two separate formats; one is a video that can be accessed by clicking here, or on the image above. This format allows simple access, but the quality is somewhat diminished. The other option, which offers a much clearer and larger view, requires the installation of Google’s free Sketchup program on your computer’s hard drive. Complete installation instructions and the file containing the complete project are available by sending us a request at memberservices@thecracosociety.org.
